Position Summary:

Plan, direct, and coordinate new hires and leave programs for the company.



ESSENTIAL Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversees administration of the FMLA, Fit for Duty and Disability Programs;

  • Receives and reviews requests for FMLA and disability leave.

  • Determines employee eligibility for various leave and designates appropriate leave status.

  • Requests and obtains completed certification and recertification forms.

  • Provides required notices designating leave as FMLA, notifying employees of the status of group benefit coverage, their other rights and obligations, and requirements for return to work.

  • Receives requests for other types of disability-related leave, including leave requested as a reasonable accommodation under the ADA. Ensures all applicable leave laws are considered and applied, and coordinates with paid time off and other leave and insurance programs.

  • Reviews and recommends revisions to company leave policies to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations.

  • Maintains databases and performs other tasks to ensure the accuracy of FMLA and personal leave records and files.

  • Coordinates communication between employees and supervisors during the leave and fit for duty process.

  • Answers questions from employees and managers on FMLA leave, Fit for Duty and disability leave.

  • Coordinates the return-to-work process for FMLA/disability leaves of absence and Fit for duty.

  • Make contact with employee to ask detailed information about non-work related injuries, illnesses and/or safety concern that need addressed.

  • Provide Fit for Duty paperwork to employee for completion by a medical provider.

  • Ensures confidentiality of employee medical and leave records.

  • Maintains new hire orientation program.

  • Hire, train and oversee new hire representatives at remote locations

  • Schedules new hire orientations

  • Ensures appropriate paperwork is completed accurately once submitted to Human Resources Department


Education and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with specialization in Human Resources or Business preferred
  • 2 to 4 years of experience in a HR generalist position

  • Excellent presentation, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Detailed oriented.
  • Intermediate skill level with Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Strong level of influence and negotiation skills.
  • Able to work alone or in a team on a broad variety of projects.
  • Able to exercise effective judgment, sensitivity, creativity to changing needs and situations.
  • Able to establish and maintain healthy working relationships with people in course of work.
  • Ability to research, evaluate and analyze new techniques, methods, and procedures
