The Co-op Program at Kokosing  is designed to provide you with practical construction experience that will supplement your education. This work experience will allow you the opportunity to expand your knowledge of the construction industry through hands-on project involvement.

The assignments are expected to be in a variety of situations that allow you to develop technically, broaden your practical background, and explore your own interests.

Co-op opportunities are available within each of Kokosing’s different construction divisions. During your co-op session, you will be assigned as an assistant in one of the following areas: Project Management and Engineering, Project Supervision, and Estimation. Kokosing believes that this experience is essential to the understanding of how the organization operates.

Field Engineer/Surveyor
You will work directly with the construction team to assist with project layout, drawing interpretation for crews and subcontractors, shop drawing submittals, the project schedule, and other important aspects of managing the work.  You will also assist the Senior Project Engineers by completing site inspections to produce daily reports of the work and subcontractor activities.

Trade Superintendent
You will manage the daily construction activities for a project.  This includes direct interaction with both the crew foremen and subcontractors to determine the appropriate safety measures, quality specifications, job costs, and scope for the work.  You will also be responsible to monitor construction to ensure adherence and compliance with the drawings and specifications.

Estimator Design Technician
You will partner with the bid team to develop cost estimates from established construction drawings.  This process involves the calculation of quantity takeoffs and the application of unit rate prices to prepare hard bid estimates.  In addition, you will participate in scheduling, site visits, and compilation of estimate data to create portions of the construction budget.

Office Engineer
You will assist the project team in managing the business functions of building a project.  You will perform quantity takeoffs, prepare subcontracts, prepare purchase orders for material and equipment, measure and evaluate production costs versus budgeted performance, and gather quantity data for updating and providing current production information for progress performance reports.

Mentorship Program
Kokosing’s established mentorship program is designed to provide each co-op with a customized work plan that will enhance their employment experience and help familiarize them with Kokosing's work processes and culture. This dedicated approach to your development will provide you a competitive edge when you are ready to enter the work force and will provide room for individual growth and training.
