Job Description:
The Lead Design Engineer will work in a dynamic, team-oriented environment and will be responsible for the design of both temporary and permanent civil, geotechnical, and structural systems that support the construction activities of Kokosing Industrial.  This position reports to the Design Manager.
 
Responsibilities and Duties:

• Perform geotechnical and other discipline design functions on Kokosing Industrial projects.
• Provide guidance and training to other designers on geotechnical systems.
• Work and communicate effectively with external entities such as clients, owners, vendors, and consultants as well as internal entities such as other design engineers, the CAD Department, and field personnel to develop safe, economic, and appropriate engineering solutions.

Desired Education, Training and Experience:

• Bachelor of Science degree in engineering and/or construction management.
• Knowledge and experience with the detailed engineering design of shoring systems, cofferdams, excavation plans, slope stability, foundations, as well as a variety of other engineered systems.
• Professional engineer license in Ohio and the ability to obtain licensing in other states.
• Knowledge of governing building codes (IBC and individual states) and referenced standards (e.g. AISC, ACI, and ASCE)
• Minimum of 7 years of design experience with engineering materials such as steel, concrete, masonry, wood, and aluminum.
• Strong background in general engineering theory is required.
• Willingness to be cross-trained and perform design activities in multiple disciplines.
• Ability to function independently.
• Proficiency with computers, Microsoft Excel and Word, AutoCAD, RISA-3D, and other software utilized in engineering design.
• Proficiency in written and spoken English language.
• Strong multi-tasking skills are required.

 
Location
This position will be based in Kokosing Industrial’s Westerville, Ohio, office with minimal travel to project sites required.
